Recently, Mellow Energy has achieved a major breakthrough in the development of mass production technology for flexible perovskite photovoltaic (PV) modules. Its integrated-process flexible perovskite PV module product — the "SunFlex" Series — has been certified by the National Institute of Metrology (NIM) of China. The module delivers an output power of 86.90W and an efficiency of up to 17.38% (with a module area of 0.5㎡). It shows no hysteresis between forward and reverse scans, and exhibits almost no degradation in the 300-second MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) test. This makes it the world’s highest-efficiency large-area flexible perovskite PV product with certified performance currently known. Notably, the module is manufactured using integrated-process technology, eliminating the need for splicing. It features an elegant appearance and high reliability.


Prior to this, Mellow Energy had successfully developed the preparation technology for 1.2m×1.6m integrated-process flexible modules. The certification of this high-efficiency "SunFlex" Series product indicates that Mellow Energy will be able to provide the market with flexible and low-light perovskite PV modules of various sizes. Incubated by Jinan University, Mellow Energy was founded by a team led by Professor Mai Yaohua, focusing on the R&D and industrialization of perovskite PV technology. In November 2024, the company’s 100MW production line, built in Zhuhai, was put into operation. The first module produced achieved an efficiency of 17.9% and obtained certification from TÜV Rheinland. Currently, the large-area glass-substrate perovskite modules developed by the company have reached an efficiency of 18.16%, while the perovskite-silicon four-terminal tandem modules have achieved an efficiency of 24.68%. Mellow Energy’s production line is versatile: it can not only manufacture large-area perovskite PV modules for ground-mounted power plants and BIPV (Building-Integrated Photovoltaics) but also be compatible with the production of indoor low-light modules and large-area flexible modules. Looking ahead, Mellow Energy will continue to leverage the scientific research advantages of Jinan University, continuously advance the innovation and application of perovskite PV technology, and contribute to China’s energy transition and green development.
